Chicago Accounting Firm Porte Brown Names Krowczyk as New Partner

Krowczyk is a Tax Partner on Porte Brown's accounting and consulting services team in the Elk Grove Village office. She has more than thirteen years of experience providing tax consulting and accounting services for individuals and closely held businesses and is also one of the leaders of Porte Brown's Tax Services Practice Group. Krowczyk graduated from Elmhurst College with a B.S. in Accounting and from Northern Illinois University with a Master of Science Degree in Taxation. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Illinois CPA Society, and National Association of Women Business Owners and currently serves as Treasurer of the Elk Grove Chamber of Commerce. Krowczyk grew up in the Rockford area and now resides in Bartlett.

A Friday letter to the editor, "Accountant debunks 'Fair'Tax," makes a lot of valid points against the FairTax, a proposal to replace all federal taxes with a national retail sales tax. However, I'm not sure whether a certified public accountant might not have a hidden agenda when it comes to a national sales tax or a flat-rate income tax. After all, much of a CPA's livelihood is based on federal and state income taxes, and as such, CPAs wouldn't want any flat-tax legislation passed.
